Fire door product evidence checklist

Thirteen questions about how your product evidence is organised. Answer honestly — the useful output is the list of gaps, not the number.

  1. 1Do you keep a clearly identified current version of each product family?

    Without a version you cannot say which record a claim or document belongs to.

  2. 2Is the intended use of each product family written down?

    Intended use frames every performance claim and its limitations.

  3. 3Is there a current Declaration of Performance (or equivalent declaration) for each product placed on the market?

    The declaration is the manufacturer’s formal statement of performance.

  4. 4Do you hold technical documentation (drawings, specifications) for the current version?

    The documentation is what the tests and assessments actually describe.

  5. 5Can you produce the fire test evidence behind each fire-resistance claim?

    Test reports are the primary evidence for performance claims.

  6. 6Do you hold the classification or assessment reports that turn test results into a classification?

    Classification and assessment reports define the field of application.

  7. 7Where you rely on third-party certification, do you know each certificate’s scope and expiry?

    Certificates expire and their scope is often narrower than the product range.

  8. 8Is it recorded which component combinations (leaf, frame, seals, hardware, glazing) each claim covers?

    Fire performance depends on the tested configuration, not just the product name.

  9. 9Are installation instructions controlled and matched to the current version?

    Installation conditions are part of the evidence scope.

  10. 10Is maintenance information available for each product family?

    Ongoing performance depends on maintenance; regulators increasingly expect it to be provided.

  11. 11Can you show what changed between product revisions and when?

    Revision history is what makes historical records reproducible.

  12. 12Are expiry and review dates for certificates, assessments and reports tracked with reminders?

    Expired evidence is the most common silent gap.

  13. 13Is each performance claim explicitly mapped to the evidence that supports it?

    The mapping is what lets you answer "why can this product make this claim?".
